How would your best friend describe you? – Bạn thân của bạn miêu tả bạn như thế nào?
Một câu trả lời có thể ngắn gọn. Bạn hãy dùng những từ vựng để thể hiện mình thích hợp cho vị trí này. Giả sử như nếu bạn đang xin một vị trí đi làm sale, bạn hãy đề cập đến các thứ như là hoà đồng, tốt bụng hay là đáng tin cậy.
Nếu xin vào vị trí làm quản lý thì lại dùng các từ như làm việc có quy tắc, cẩn thận và ân cần chu đáo. Việc quan trọng là hãy kết nối với những từ đó với một vị trí mà bạn muốn làm. Sau đây là một vài ví dụ, chú ý đên những cấu trúc in đậm nhé:
- “Oh, let’s see… I think my best friend would describe me as honest, detailed, and very organized.”
- “I think my best friend would say that I’m very responsible. Whenever our group of friends had to coordinate an activity, they always relied on me.”
- “My best friend would probably say that I’m warm, friendly, and understanding.”
Hãy nhớ đến câu trả lời không cần phải dài, nhưng các bạn cũng không nên nói thẳng mà quên suy nghĩ. Hãy làm cho người phỏng vấn có được những cảm giác các bạn đang suy nghĩ về một vấn đề đó thay vì có một cảm giác là các bạn học thuộc câu trả lời rồi bắn như là súng liên thanh. Đôi lúc những lần nói chậm và dừng lại nó sẽ có tác dụng rất tốt.
How would your professor describe you? – Thầy cô của bạn nhận xét bạn như thế nào?
Câu này cũng tương tự, và bạn cũng không thể nào chọn từ nào cũng được. Hãy chọn các từ liên quan đến việc ở trường học và có liên quan đến vị trí mà bạn muốn xin. Nên như nhớ rằng giáo viên sẽ nhìn bạn khác với cách mà bạn bè nhìn bạn. Vậy nên ngụ ý của câu hỏi này là bạn thể hiện như thế nào ở trong trường đại học? Trường học thường có những hoạt động nhóm, bạn có gì từ những hoạt động này?

Các bạn cũng để ý đến những câu trả lời trên cấu trúc đều có hai phần, phần một dùng để diễn tả việc giáo sư sẽ nghĩ gì về mình, và phần hai là lý do cho những phẩm chất đó.
How would your mother describe you? – Mẹ bạn miêu tả về bạn như thế nào?
Câu này là một câu bạn có thể dùng các từ liên quan đến cá nhân vì mẹ của bạn thân thiết với bạn theo kiểu khác. Chú ý các từ này cần phải có dẫn chứng minh hoạ ở đằng sau, nếu bạn nói “I’m smart.” thì không ai tin bạn cả, bạn nên nói “I’m smart because …”
- “I think my mother would say I’m very friendly because I had a lot of friends and that I’m very focused because I always finish what I start.”
- –> Câu trả lời trên cho thấy hai tính cách khác nhau. Một là có phẩm chất cá nhân và một cho thấy phẩm chất công việc. Tác giả cũng cho thấy lý do bằng cách nói từ “because” Tổng quan lại thì những câu hỏi kiểu này không quá quan trọng và các bạn có thể trả lời ngắn gọn và đủ ý là okay.
- “Since I was the oldest out of three, I think my mother would describe me as responsible and someone who is looked to for answers.”
- “My mother told me I was always smart. When I was younger, she was surprised to see A’s in my report card. After awhile, she would be surprised when I didn’t receive an A.”

I am ambitious and driven
Ambition and drive are two qualities that are essential to success and growth in many jobs. When an employer hires an ambitious candidate, they can rest assured this new hire will consistently seek ways to improve themselves and keep their eyes firmly set on their next goal.
Example: “I am ambitious and driven. I thrive on challenges and constantly set goals for myself, so I have something to strive toward. I’m not comfortable with settling, and I’m always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness. They promoted me three times in less than two years in my previous role.”
I am highly organized
An organized candidate is a detail-oriented person an employer can trust to meet deadlines. This quality is especially important in administrative positions, project management and other roles that require adherence to process and quality.
Example: “I am highly organized. I always take notes and use a series of tools to help myself stay on top of deadlines. I like to keep a clean workspace and create a logical filing method so I can always find what I need. I find this increases efficiency and helps the rest of the team stay on track, too. In my last role, I created a new filing process that increased departmental efficiency by 25%.”
I’m a people person
Some people are naturally outgoing and conversational and can quickly find ways to feel at home in groups of strangers. This attribute is especially helpful for people in customer service and sales positions. If you aren’t naturally outgoing, you can still succeed in sales positions by following training protocols and practicing effective sales techniques.
Example: “I’m a people person. I love meeting new people and learning about their lives and their backgrounds. I can almost always find common ground with strangers, and I like making people feel comfortable in my presence. This skill is especially helpful when kicking off projects with new clients. In my previous job, my clients’ customer satisfaction scores were 15% over the company average.”
I’m a natural leader
While you can teach people management skills, some naturally take on the role of a leader in group settings. Employers often seek natural leaders for leadership and non-leadership positions because they set a good example and boost team morale.
